Our primary focus will be on drama elements and theater basics while we claim the art of acting for Christ! We will learn techniques that help students work through their inhibitions in order to overcome stage fright. We will learn the importance of teamwork while creating a variety of improvisational team skits in order to become spontaneous thinking actors. We will have fun playing drama games that introduce different aspects of the theater.
The curriculum is based on Viola Spolin’s book “Improvisation for the Theater.” The class uses different information each year, so students may take the class more than one year.
We will have two performances per year - One each semester. Each student is expected to participate. Parents and friends are invited to attend. Class attendance and participation is mandatory, because how do you rehearse a play when an actor is absent? We will have grand adventures in class! Come join us!
