Case: Armed Activities on the Territory of the Congo (Democratic Republic of the Congo v. Uganda)
On June23, 1999, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) filed a case against the Republic of Uganda regarding a dispute concerning “acts of armed aggression perpetrated by Uganda on the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and of the Charter of the Organization of African Unity” (emphasis in the original). Furthermore, the DRC seeks not only the cessation of the alleged acts, but also a reparation for acts of intentional destruction and looting and the restitution of national property and resources appropriated for the benefit of the respective respondent States.
