Read more about sentence/word structure and parts of a sentence. Click on the pink button below and / or read the 'How to Make a Good Sentence' sheet below the button.

RESOURCE SHEET - How to Make a Good Sentence A sentence must have 3 things: a subject, a verb, and you must understand it. Example: Babies cry. That is a sentence.....babies = subject, cry = verb, and I understand it.

A sentence doesn't need an object, place, or time, but as we learn more about writing, we make longer and better sentences.

Building upon a basic subject verb sentence- We eat. Ask yourself- eat WHAT or WITH WHO? dinner = object We eat dinner. Ask yourself - We eat dinner - WHERE? in the kitchen = place. We eat dinner in the kitchen. Ask yourself - We eat dinner in the kitchen WHEN? every evening = time. We eat dinner in the kitchen every evening. ( This sentence has S+V+O+P+T ).
