Your Supervised Agriculture Experience project is an essential part of your grade in any agriculture class that you take but is also an important part of your development as a young leader in the agriculture industry. There are a wide variety of SAE projects that students complete through our program, talk to your ag teacher to find one that fits you best!
Students who complete shop projects can utilize resources in our school mechanics shop or on their own. They will design, build, and fabricate a project that could be decorative or useful in design. To name a few: tables, cornhole boards, wall art....its really up to you! The project needs to meet a minimum requirement of 15 hours.
Students who raise animals for the county fair or care for their own livestock animals at home can use that as an acceptable SAE project. Annually, we have about twenty exhibitors for our Santa Barbara County Fair held in July!
Students who work in agriculture locally can have work based SAE projects. For example, if you work at a welding shop, on a vineyard, at a feed store, or a produce stand- these are all acceptable work based SAEs!
Students who volunteer locally in some way related to agriculture/animals can use this as an SAE project. Volunteering at the Therapeutic Riding Center, volunteering for the Humane Society, or at local schools teaching agriculture are a few examples.
First year ag students conduct an exploratory project related to agriculture to help get their "toes wet" and find the area of agriculture that interests them most!
Students in agriculture science courses have the opportunity to research and develop an agriscience project and to compete in the State level Agriscience contest! Ask Ms. Brown for more info.
