The regents exam is a state required exam, it also counts as your final exam grade for Earth Science.
85%+ = mastery of Earth Science
65%+ = passing
< 65% = failing
To qualify to take the regents exam you must have 1200 minutes of hands-on labs, and passing grades on lab reports are needed.
The exam is 2 parts...
Part 1: Lab Practical (Approx. 15-20% of the total score) 9 minutes per station
station 1 - Identify Rocks and Minerals
station 2 - Locating the Epicenter of an Earthquake
station 3 - Drawing Ellipses and Calculating Eccentricity
Part 2: Written exam (3 hours)
