We are reading the horror fantasy novel Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by ransom Riggs, which explores the fantastical world of the "peculiar" --- people with extraordinary abilities and talents, like the ability to levitate or create fire with their bare hands. Jacob, a modern and ordinary boy wanders into the fascinating tales of his grandfather's childhood living in a children's home in England with other peculiars like himself. However, the magical time loop is in grave danger and Jacob is the only one who can save it.
This novel is the first in a series exploring beautiful vintage photographs and celebrates the uniqueness within each one of us, the horrors of discrimination, and the importance of friendship.
Our book club for grades 11-12 focuses on student-interest texts and reading for enjoyment, taking a break from the heavy course demands of the last two years of high school.
Book club meets every Tuesday & Thursday in the library during 7th period lunch.
We begin each session with a check-in time to share about our day. Following, Miss Kulak reads aloud from the selected book.
Just show up! Members are always welcome to join us and do not have to commit to attending every meeting.
