While in the library, students are expected to be engaged in schoolwork requiring use of library resources (i.e. computers, book collection, periodicals, reference, etc).
Students are expected to abide by the Bishop Ludden-Grimes Code of Student Conduct and all other Bishop Ludden-Grimes rules.
Students are expected to abide by the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Syracuse Agreement for Internet Access by Students.
Library books are loaned out with a three week return policy (at the three weeks, a student may renew the book if no one has reserved it).
Library Rules
Students must have a pass from their teacher to utilize the library (with the exception of before homeroom or after school). Students without a pass will be asked to return to their class.
Students who are failing two or more classes must remain in study hall to make up course work and receive help from teachers and may not use the library until the Monday following a passing grade unless receiving direct aid from the librarian.
Please no food or drink in the library except during designated times and areas (club meetings, special events, etc.).
Tidy your surrounding area before leaving the library by pushing in your chair, throwing away trash, and returning materials to where they belong.
Please be respectful of students that are working by keeping your voice at a reasonable level.
No horseplay, running, climbing, destruction of property, or any other irresponsible behavior will be tolerated.
Keep your hands to yourself and be respectful of other students’ personal space and belongings.
All BLG policies for dress, behavior, and technology usage must be followed.
Each day is treated as a fresh start and warnings from previous days do not carry over. If first infraction warnings for the same behavior build up, it may result in a referral.
1st infraction – student will receive a verbal warning (if the behavior causes harm to another student or BLG property, no warning will be issued and will result in immediate disciplinary action)
2nd infraction – student will receive a written referral to the dean who will decide disciplinary action
Students may check out up to three books at one time and additional materials may be checked out on a following visit as long as no books are overdue.
Students in grades 9-12 may checkout materials from the restricted section as long as they do not have a form on file removing that privilege.
Students will be reminded to return overdue materials via a printed reminder given in homeroom. Students may not check out additional materials until overdue books are returned or renewed.
To renew a book, the student must have the book with them so that its location is accounted for. Each book can be renewed up to three times in a single check-out period.
If books are not returned by the final call date in May, students may face a replacement fee of $15 for paperback books and $25 for hardcover books.
