Sentence Scooping Expert TipL When students are learning to scoop sentences for meaning, it may be helpful to have them think about the question words: who, what, where, when, why, and/or how. Thinking through these questions may help students as they begin to make scoops that will show you they are understanding the text. For instance, when working through a Fundations® Storytime story as a class, model how thinking through the question words can tell them where the scoops might go.
