Although GATE programming ends at 5th grade, our dedication to serving our gifted students does not! All of our junior high schools offer a variety of honors classes designed to challenge our gifted thinkers. We currently offer honors classes in ELA, math, social studies, and science in grades 6 through 8.
As alternatives to honors courses, at the junior high level students can start to take accelerated math courses. For example, a 6th grader can either take Math 6, Honors Math 6, or be accelerated to Honors Algebra 6. Students are also offered the opportunity to take French, German, or Spanish at the junior high level. Although these classes are offered at the junior high, they are considered high school credit courses. Any student taking a foreign language or accelerate math course will receive a Written Acceleration Plan stating that they are taking a course beyond their assigned grade level.
In addition to coursework, our junior high schools offer a variety of clubs that can help deepen a student's academic passion. Some of these clubs include:
Quiz Bowl
