Language
We are excited to offer four language classes for the 2026 academic year: Mandarin, Spanish, Japanese and Auslan
The program consists of a 30 minute oral language lesson and a 30 minute online follow-up lesson each week. Auslan is a 45 minute practical lesson. Our classes cater to mixed-age, ability-based groups, allowing students to progress at their own pace and receive instruction based on their needs.
Learning a new language offers numerous benefits, including improved cognitive skills, enhanced cultural awareness, and increased job opportunities. It also provides a unique challenge and can greatly enrich a student’s educational experience.
Students have the option to learn more than one language, however, it is important to be mindful of the extra workload and time commitment that comes with being a polylinguist. If multiple languages are taken, extra revision work at home will be required. It is not always possible for students to access additional language classes due to timetable clashes.
We are also pleased to offer an additional option for 2026. Instead of continuing with Mandarin, Spanish, Japanese or Auslan, students may choose to participate in a Global Action research or change-maker project. These projects will focus on real-world issues and global citizenship, encouraging students to research, think critically and take appropriate action to make a difference to our world.
