The Pope Francis Award is a service program offered to students in Year 6 and Years 7-8-9 in Sydney Catholic Schools across the Archdiocese. The program is aimed to encourage the involvement of students in their local parish and to reflect and pray about the significance of volunteer service.
The program for Year 6 students involves students completing 20 hours of voluntary service in their Parish (10 hours) and School (10 hours) and completing faith formation modules on Canvas under the guidance of a teacher mentor.
The program for Year 7-8 students involves students completing 30 hours of voluntary service in their Parish (15 hours), community service (10 hours), school (5 hours), and completing online faith formation on Canvas under the guidance of a teacher mentor.
The program for Year 9 students involves students completing the 50 hours of service in Years 6 and 7-8, plus running a retreat workshop, and completing a parish project and a service project for the elderly.
