Henry Moore was commissioned as a war artist during World War II. Ha completed a series of sketches of the underground stations around London, which were being used as an air raid shelter. Huddled bodies seem to rise out of the darkness of the tunnels. He achieves this result with watercolour paint and simple wax crayons. Using someone to model, soft or oil pastels and some coloured paper, have a go at drawing the figure by developing the highlights.
