Maidu
The Maidu would always set up their camp near places like this because of the resources. They would care for the land so they would not lose it because they thought that if they mistreated the land it would anger the land god and he would take it.
One of the Maidu's celebrations is the flower season, they would dance and tell stories so the flowers and their produce would bloom, this is just one of many stories.
The Maidu's common jobs for the men is that they hunt for food and the woman cook and sing to their babies. The Maidu's family structure are like their houses and their shacks they like use them for like their tool's and their storage or like crop's and the weapons to hunt.
In California Maidu belief, the world begins with Helin Maideh (Great Person), who first created water and air. In the beginning, he floated on a raft with Turtle in that formless world with no sun, moon, or stars. They took dirt, formed it into a cake, anchored it with four white feathered ropes, and that became the world, with its hills and mountains, lakes and streams. Helin Maideh next made the animals, fishes, birds, and plants. Then the three set out to populate the earth. There are many stories and many versions, but this is the most popular one because they told this one every nite around the fire, they would play music when they sing to their babies.
