A Backchannel is a method of ongoing communication. It helps keep a discussion on topic and offers collaborators to add comments or questions in real time. In a classroom setting, a backchannel can be used for students to check-in with their teacher, ask a question, or request help without interrupting the teacher. The teacher monitors the backchannel and provides assistance as needed and appropriate.
You can use Google Classroom as a backchannel in your classroom. This can be done in a couple of different ways, depending on your needs.
