Dear Families and Students,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I hope you all had a restful, safe, and rejuvenating summer. Our teachers and staff have been working incredibly hard to prepare our classrooms, and we cannot wait to see our halls filled with energy, ambition, and school spirit once again.

On a personal note, this school year is incredibly special for me. As a proud graduate of Switzerland County High School, stepping into the role of high school principal feels like a true homecoming. After having the absolute privilege of leading Switzerland County Elementary and watching many of your children begin their educational journeys, I am thrilled to transition alongside them to the high school. There is nothing quite like the joy of seeing our students grow from their very first steps in the classroom to the moment they walk across the graduation stage. It is an honor to lead my alma mater, and I cannot wait to partner with you all to make this an unforgettable year! 

Before students can officially kick off the school year, registration must be fully completed online. This year we are switching to a new updated Skyward system. It is now LIVE. If you have any trouble, please do not hesitate to reach out at (812) 427-2626. We will be happy to assist you. Students MUST enroll before they will be able to see their schedule for the 26-27 school year. 

We have an exciting lineup of activities coming up quickly! To ensure you have the most accurate and real-time updates, please make it a habit to check our official school website or download our school app to see what is happening. Turn on push notifications in the app so you never miss an announcement or a schedule change!

Join us on Thursday,  August 6 to meet your teachers, tour the building, and get ready for a fantastic year. We have designed our evening schedule to ensure everyone gets the specific information they need:

There will be two informational sessions for all grade levels at 5:30 and 6:30 in the HS cafeteria. These two sessions will cover identical school-wide information to accommodate different family schedules. 

If your child is an incoming senior, there will be an informational session at 6:00 in the cafeteria. 

As you prepare for the first day of school, here are some important information! 

7:20 - Door S-6 opens for students. Students will be directed to the cafe until 7:45. 

8:05 - Students are counted tardy. 

At Switzerland County High School, we are committed to creating a focused learning environment where every student can thrive. This year, SCHS is adopting a device-light approach to minimize distractions, reduce unnecessary screen time, and boost student engagement and collaboration.

To support this effort, student cell phones must be powered off and stored in lockers from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additionally, Chromebooks issued within the first week of school will stay at home, with school-provided devices used in class only when technology directly enhances learning.

By balancing intentional technology use with screen-free collaboration, we ensure students stay fully engaged while still building essential digital skills. We appreciate our families' partnership in supporting these expectations!
