ILEARN Checkpoints are short, online assessments for students in grades 3-8 in Indiana. They are given three times a year (fall, winter, and spring) and provide a snapshot of a child's progress in English/Language Arts (ELA) and Math throughout the school year.
Think of ILEARN Checkpoints as a quick check-up for your child's learning, similar to a doctor's wellness visit. They're not a final grade, but rather a tool to help teachers see how a student is doing on key skills from the Indiana Academic Standards. This timely information helps teachers and schools:
Identify strengths and areas for improvement early on.
Adjust instruction to better meet your child's needs.
Provide targeted support or intervention where it's needed most.
The checkpoints are part of a new "through-year" assessment system. This means instead of just one big test at the end of the year, we can track your child's progress all year long.
Below you will find guidance on what your child will be assessed on during each of the checkpoints.
