Dear Families,
We have officially reached the final month of the school year! May is always a whirlwind of
activity, celebration, and reflection. As we head into these final weeks, we want to keep you
informed of the many events and milestones taking place on campus.
We are incredibly proud of our students for completing the ILEARN assessment. Their focus
and hard work during the testing window were commendable. While that major milestone is
behind us, we will begin IREAD-3 retesting next week for those students who qualify. Please
ensure your students get plenty of rest as we finalize these academic requirements.
The first full week of May is traditionally Teacher Appreciation Week. At our school, we use
this time to celebrate every member of our staff—from our classroom teachers and
paraprofessionals to our office team, custodians, and cafeteria workers. Their dedication has
made this school year a success. If you or your child would like to send a note of thanks or a
small token of appreciation, this is the perfect time!
We are packing the calendar with fun and meaningful events to close out the year:
Our annual day of outdoor fun and physical activity is just around the corner! Remember to send your student with sunscreen, a water bottle, and comfortable shoes. We are also asking that students bring a plain t-shirt of a specific color (teachers should communicate this) by May 6th. Field Day is Friday, May 15.
Awards Day and our K/6th Grade Celebrations will take place on Thursday, May 21. Below you can find the schedule.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let’s work together to make this May
a memorable and positive experience for all our students!
Warmly,
Ashley Kitts, Principal
Switzerland County Elementary
