January Newsletter
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful, joyful holiday break and enjoyed some quality time with your loved ones. I can't wait to see our hallways filled with students' smiling faces again as we kick off the second half of the school year.
January is a month of fresh starts and focused learning. Here is a look at what’s coming up this month:
This month, our students will be participating in the ILEARN Checkpoint #2 for ELA and Math. These checkpoints are valuable tools that help our teachers understand your child’s progress and ensure they are getting the support they need to succeed. Due to snow in December, we had to move the Math Checkpoint to January.
Additionally, Report Cards for the previous grading period will be sent home on Thursday, January 8th. Please take a moment to review these with your child and celebrate their hard work! If you have any questions or conerns, please reach out to your child's teacher. You can schedule a meeting with the teacher any time during the school year!
As we move further into the "sick season," we want to emphasize that consistent attendance is more important than ever. Every day of instruction counts! While we prioritize student health, we encourage you to ensure your child is at school whenever they are well. If your child is feeling under the weather, please continue to notify the front office of their absence. Let’s work together to keep our classroom community healthy and learning!
Back by popular demand! We will be selling Barksdale Valentine’s Day Cards again this year. These are a fan favorite, featuring a cute Valentine design customized with your child’s school picture. They are a wonderful way to share a smile with friends and family. Keep an eye out for order forms coming home soon!
As always, please let us know if you need anything. We look forward to a successful semester!
Sincerely,
Ashley Kitts, Principal
