SUHSD PAR Pathways
The SUHSD Peer Assistance and Review Program consists of three pathways:
Referred Participating Teachers, Recommended Participating Teachers, and Voluntary Participating Teachers.
The requirements for these pathways are outlined below. For the full description, please see the MOU regarding Pilot Program regarding Peer Assistance and Review from the SUHSD to SEA on 3/12/2025.
The Referred Participating Teacher is a teacher with permanent status who has a summary evaluation that is rated as unsatisfactory or needs improvement. Participation in PAR is required. Upon notice that a teacher qualifies to participate as a Referred Participating Teacher, both SEA and the District shall notify the Referred Participating Teacher of the requirement to participate in the program. A Referred Participating Teacher in the PAR Program may choose an available Consulting Teacher from the Consulting Teacher Pool. Consulting Teachers are allotted up to thirty hours per year to support each participating teacher. Once paired, the Referred Participating Teacher and Consulting Teacher will sign their respective PAR Teacher Agreements and schedule time to meet. The Referred Participating Teacher and Consulting Teacher will work collaboratively on identifying a Professional Growth Goal based on the CSTPs, and they'll reflect on the action steps taken each quarter to meet this goal. A description of action steps is documented each quarter and submitted by the Consulting Teacher to the Quarterly Report Google Form located on the Submissions page. These reports are reviewed by the SUHSD Joint Governance Panel on a quarterly basis for purposes of program review and improvement. Referred Participating Teachers will also participate in a Triad Meeting with their Consulting Teacher and site administrator as well as Consulting Teacher observations.
The Recommended Participating Teacher is a teacher with permanent status who has a summary evaluation with any one of the elements marked as unsatisfactory. Participation is strongly recommended but not required. Upon notice that a teacher qualifies to participate as a Recommended Participating Teacher, both SEA and the District shall notify the Recommended Participating Teacher of their strong recommendation to participate in the program. A Recommended Participating Teacher in the PAR Program may choose an available Consulting Teacher from the Consulting Teacher Pool. Consulting Teachers are allotted up to thirty hours per year to support each participating teacher. Once paired, the Recommended Participating Teacher and Consulting Teacher will sign their respective PAR Teacher Agreements and schedule time to meet. The Recommended Participating Teacher and Consulting Teacher will work collaboratively on identifying a Professional Growth Goal based on the CSTPs, and they'll reflect on the action steps taken each quarter to meet this goal. A description of action steps is documented each quarter and submitted by the Consulting Teacher to the Quarterly Report Google Form located on the Submissions page. These reports are reviewed by the SUHSD Joint Governance Panel on a quarterly basis for purposes of program review and improvement. Recommended Participating Teachers will also participate in a Triad Meeting with their Consulting Teacher and site administrator as well as Consulting Teacher observations.
Though Referred and Recommended PAR Teachers have priority, a Voluntary Teacher in the PAR Program may choose an available Consulting Teacher from the Consulting Teacher Pool. Consulting Teachers are allotted up to thirty hours per year to support each participating teacher. If interested, Voluntary Teachers may notify Emily Jimenez, PAR Program Manager, their site administrator or their SEA President. Once paired, the Voluntary Teacher and Consulting Teacher will sign their respective PAR Teacher Agreements and schedule time to meet. Voluntary Teachers and Consulting Teachers will work collaboratively on identifying a Professional Growth Goal based on the CSTPs, and they'll reflect on the action steps taken each quarter to meet this goal. A non-evaluative description of action steps is documented each quarter and submitted by the Consulting Teacher to the Quarterly Report Google Form located on the Submissions page. These reports are reviewed by the SUHSD Joint Governance Panel on a quarterly basis for purposes of program review and improvement. Voluntary Teachers may request a Triad Meeting with their Consulting Teacher and site administrator as well as Consulting Teacher observations, though these experiences are not required.
