9th Grade

GROUP COLLABORATION: familiarization with different roles within a group (teacher-driven)

EMAIL: proper etiquette (audience, content, tone, language, caps and fonts, differentiating between approach to text vs. email)

CODE-SWITCHING: between school and non-school

NETWORKING: understand what professional networks are and how they can help achieve personal goals

TOLERANCE/RESPECT/ EMPATHY: become aware of different cultures and social norms

APPROPRIATE ATTIRE: demonstrate appropriate clothing choices

AWARENESS OF ENVIRONMENT: understand that there are different social settings and begin to understand which behaviors are appropriate for each

RESUME/INTERVIEW: understand the steps involved in acquiring a job

SCHOOL AMBASSADOR: understand that school is a professional environment which they are part of.

10th Grade

GROUP COLLABORATION: know the roles within a group setting and effectively communicate with other members

CODE-SWITCHING: friends, family, colleagues vs. superiors, Internet (ex. library, court, office building)

NETWORKING: become familiar with specific networking communities

TOLERANCE/RESPECT/ EMPATHY: gain an appreciation for the opinions and behaviors of others

AWARENESS OF ENVIRONMENT: identify differences in a variety of social settings and which behaviors are and aren’t acceptable

RESUME/ INTERVIEW: begin construction of a resumé and commence implementing successful interview strategies

SCHOOL AMBASSADOR: understand that as a student of AAS they represent our school and their behaviors inside and outside the classroom have consequences

11th Grade

GROUP COLLABORATION: understand strengths and weaknesses within a group setting and can plan and execute steps within the project or assignment

CODE-SWITCHING: preparing for situations (ex. on the way to library, court)

NETWORKING: become part of professional networking communities by developing a contact list

TOLERANCE/RESPECT/ EMPATHY: demonstrate appropriate behavior when confronted with individual and groups differences

AWARENESS OF ENVIRONMENT: demonstrate appropriate behavior in a variety of professional, public, and private social settings.

RESUME/ INTERVIEW: experience interview situations and continue to develop interview strategies

12th Grade

GROUP COLLABORATION: collaborate effectively within a group setting to meet deadlines and expectations while motivating one another to complete the task

NETWORKING: use professional networks to achieve goals (ex. Job Fairs, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.)

TOLERANCE/RESPECT/ EMPATHY: understand and appreciate the views of other people

RESUME/ INTERVIEW: successfully complete a professional job application as well as have experience with the interview process
