This program is housed at Westland HS.
Upon completion of the Construction Trades program, our graduates will have gained credentials in NCCER Core and Carpentry and OSHA 10 preparing them for direct entry into a construction apprenticeship program. The focus of these credentials include: orientation to the trade, building materials, fasteners and adhesives, hand and power tools, introduction to construction drawings, specifications and layout, floor and wall systems, ceiling joist and roof framing, basic stair layout, and an introduction to building envelope systems.

Students completing this program are ready to enter the industry having focused largely on central Ohio’s customer service industries of retail, insurance, and banking. Students leave with credentials in both Retail Industry Fundamentals and Customer Service and Sales. These credentials focus on customer service skills, communication, organization , and professional business.
In addition, this course will also provide an opportunity for all students to enhance their English language skills as related to employability and customer service. Students will have the option to earn a Customer Service Certificate or a Bilingual Customer Service Certificate.

Direct ServiceDSP-U is an educational program that prepares high school seniors to work in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field as DSPs- Direct Support Professionals. Direct Support Professionals help individuals with I/DD (intellectual/ developmental disabilities) live their best lives. By working with each person’s unique strengths and challenges, DSPs give physical, educational, and “real life” support wherever it’s needed, aiding individuals as they seek success at work, at home, and within their communities.
You may earn the Certificate of Initial Proficiency (CIP), Certificate of Advanced Proficiency (CIP), First Aid/CPR, and Elder Care recognized industry credentials.

**Academically students will earn 3 credits, a 12-point credential, First Aid/CPR, and the Ohio Means Jobs Seal.
This program is at South-Western Career Academy during the summer.
Students graduating from this program leave with their STNA credential and are equipped with the necessary skills to enter directly into the workforce or continue their career path as a Registered Nurse. This credential allows individuals to assist nurses, doctors, and other healthcare providers in a variety of medical settings. The career skills earned through this program include: ambulation of a resident, application of assistive devices, multiple healthcare treatments of a resident, as well as various life-saving techniques.
