In order to earn a Varsity letter in Cross Country you must earn VARSITY CREDIT IN MORE THAN 50% of the meets contested that year. EXAMPLE: 2025- There was a total of 8 races through the Super-Regional. This means you needed to "Varsity" in 5 Meets or more.
How do you earn VARSITY CREDIT?
1. If we are fielding a Scoring Team (at least 5 runners) The top 5 runners will earn varsity credit for that meet. (If ran in the Varsity Race)
Runners #6 and higher do not earn varsity credit.
2. If we have more than 7 runners in the race, The top 7 will earn varsity credit for that meet.
Runners #8 and higher do not earn varsity credit. (If ran in the Varsity Race)
At the Hoka One One: Postal Nationals: Varsity Credit is given to our Top 5 in the Varsity Race ONLY.
No Varsity Credit will be given for competing in a JV or Open Race. (I understand that their may be times when a "Varsity Runner" may be assigned to the Open Race for Rehabilitation, Ability level, Competitiveness of an Invitational or Disciplinary reasons. This can be done at the coach's discretion.)
Varsity Credit CAN be lost!! Unexcused absences from practice, skipping or missing a meet without prior communication/approval with Coach. Conduct unbecoming of a Grove City High School Student Athlete, etc. Can all result in the loss of Varsity Credit or Dismissal from the TEAM.
