Once your child has decided that they would like to play a string instrument, it is important that they are measured and sized so they end up with the correct instrument for their body size.
Representatives from the different music companies will size students when they try instruments during the school day. Students will be given a card that shows the size of instrument they need to rent.
Until a student is ready for a "full-size" instrument, it is not recommended that families purchase an instrument. Renting is usually the best option in this case, since students continue to grow for several years.
Sizing can also be done at home. Below are some resources to help families determine the best size instrument for their child.
