YES! Please support every student's success by discussing their grades/behavior/patterns with your H.S liaisons, as they can support you by checking in with the student and ensuring they succeed in the course.
First, contact your H.S liaison as they have to make sure students are not left alone in the classroom. Second, contact your Department and CC the Outreach & Dual Enrollment Director (jpacheco@swccd.edu) so everyone is aware of the situation.
Yes, the Outreach & Dual Enrollment Department works closely with our partner High Schools to ensure students have the correct course textbook. Faculty are also able to use course materials that are at no cost to the students (online readings, etc.). If students do not have their textbooks by the first day of class, please contact your H.S liasion and the Outreach & Dual Enrollment Director (jpacheco@swccd.edu).
The Outreach Department is happy to provide students, parents, and community partners with a general SWC presentation that highlights our academic and student services departments, college resources, in addition to a student panel so students can learn more about the college experience. Please contact the Outreach & Dual Enrollment Department at outreach@swccd.edu.
Your High School liaison and Director of Outreach & Dual Enrollment are your support systems. Please contact them immediately if you have any questions on how to navigate a specific circumstance. As the Professor, you are able to determine the best course of action for your students, but please reach out to your support systems when needed.
CCAP courses are requested by our High School partners, which means there is a lot of interest for the course. In order for High School students to take a CCAP class, they must apply to the college and submit a CCAP Agreement form, which includes their parent/guardian and Principal's signature. This process may take some time, and the Outreach Department provides extensive support and closely monitors students' progress during this period. The Outreach Department will register all students in CCAP classes by Census date. Any issues with filling the class will be communicated with the Department Dean well in advance to prevent any course cancellations.
The self-service system does not allow faculty members to update/change students' grades after the first submission. Therefore, please reach out to our SWC Admissions & Records department (admissions@swccd.edu) to update any errors with the final grades of your students.
Yes, CCAP Faculty must also follow roster verification deadlines, Census Day, last day to add/drop, no W drop, grade submissions, positive attendance (if applicable), etc.,. If you have any questions, please connect with your Department or email the Admissions Office at admissions@swccd.edu.
