Extra Curricular
STEM fair
Each year, our KS3 students have the opportunity to work independently towards a Bronze CREST award. The students choose a STEM topic that really interests them and the display of their projects forms the centre piece of our annual STEM fair in March when students present their research to parents and staff.
Previous examples of STEM fair projects:
A mini wind tunnel
Alternative foods (including cookies made using insects!) and soaps
Home-made anaerobic digesters
How to earthquake-proof buildings
Recycling in the future
Clubs
There is a popular KS3 Science club run by 6th form students. It provides keen junior scientists with the chance to explore the sciences beyond the classroom, taking part in a wider range of practical experiments than would be possible during lessons.
Previous projects and activities have included:
The annual chick hatching project.
Growing avocado trees from seed
Making clouds in a bottle
Acids and alkalis
