Try to find out the dress code for the company. Go smart if you can’t find out.
Try on your outfit in advance, you need to be focussed on the job and experience, not your outfit.
Don’t wear anything uncomfortable that will make you feel self conscious.
Take care not to wear overpowering perfume/aftershave. Same applies to make up.
Smile and make eye contact
Body language, not slouched and don’t fiddle…..
Give relevant and appropriate answers.
If you don’t understand the question, ask for clarification.
Get to the point, don’t waffle!
Don’t disrespect previous work colleagues or employers.
Make sure you’re clear about the next steps following an interview.
Prepare responses for most common questions and think about possible tricky questions.
What the company has said they need from the job - have examples you can refer to.
Write your answers down.
Practice makes perfect!
If it’s not explicit in the invite, find out the format of the interview and the number of people you’ll meet
Research the company, at least visit their website! Read any news stories and company reviews.
Prepare your own questions.
Study the job specification and have examples you can talk about for the essential skills and experience.
Locate the company, do a dummy run to check the timing.
Have a copy of your CV with you.
