The students will get a new list of spelling words at the beginning of each week. We will practice spelling them in a variety of ways throughout the course of the week. At the end of the week, the students will have a short quiz. The quiz will be made up of two separate parts: the first part will be the spelling of each of the words; and, the second part will be dictation of a sentence that the students should be able to write by this point in time. The sentence will contain words based upon the spelling pattern, words from past quizzes, and high frequency words. The students know that they need to also have correct capitalization and punctuation in order to get full credit.

The spelling words are organized according to the spelling pattern being studied that particular week.
