With exams concluded and the pressures of academia a thing of the past, many students were able to focus their energy on making a positive impact on the planet. In connection with the Student Rebuild project's goal of raising 1 million USD, students produced paintings, poetry, posters, and skits with the theme of spreading peace in the world. With wars raging all over the planet, it was a perfect time to reflect on this goal. At the time this project was submitted, students had helped to raise over 225.00 USD, with more to come.

Four groups of students from the Chinese Department of SWA participated in the 2025 HSK Short Video Competition. Their entries included a band performance, traditional Chinese dance, guitar playing and singing, piano playing and singing, and a calligraphy demonstration.
Through persistent practice and dedicated filming, the students worked together to complete their final videos. This competition was not only a chance to challenge themselves but also a perfect opportunity to experience the beauty of the Chinese language and culture. The final videos will be premiered in July on the HSK Chinese Proficiency YouTube channel. Let’s wish them the best and look forward to the exciting results!

MUSIC
Written by Mr. Freddy
During Term 4, MYP Music students showcased impressive musicianship and ensemble collaboration through a series of heartfelt performances dedicated to the graduating Grade 12 class. Despite their summative project commitments, students from Grades 6 to 9 participated in large-scale ensemble works that demonstrated both technical and expressive growth. A highlight was the Grade 6 Hulusi Ensemble’s rendition of "Come and Get Your Love", featuring melodic wind textures supported by violin and saxophone. This piece became a symbolic time-cross collaboration when the live performance was synchronised with archival footage from the same piece performed by the current Grade 12 class back in 2019, when they were in Grade 6, playing kolintang and percussion. Through technology, students across time performed together, bridging generations with harmony.
The emotional journey continued with a full SATB MYP choir performing "Remember Me", capturing vocal balance, harmonic blend, and lyrical expression. Grade 8 and 9 students followed with a lively SATB version of "Mamma Mia", enhanced by energetic choreography, demonstrating rhythmic clarity and theatrical flair. The Timbre and OneTake clubs then presented a moving "For Good" medley, where vocals and dance were seamlessly interwoven to create a multimedia performance rich in dynamic contrast and artistic intention. These pieces were not just performances but part of the students’ term summative projects, aimed at making a meaningful impact on the graduating audience through empathy and sound.
The graduation ceremony culminated with a suite of senior performances that reflected personal voice and cultural identity. From Charlotte’s emotive interpretation of "Selalu Ada di Nadimu" to the multilingual expressions in "Tujuh Belas" and "再见", the Grade 12 cohort used melody, language, and movement to express gratitude, farewell, and legacy. The tribute to parents—featuring a medley of "You'll Be in My Heart", "Thank You", and "Perfect Fan"—was delivered with such expressive nuance and harmonic richness that it left the audience deeply moved. The graduates also surprised the audience with a K-pop dance performance of “What is Love”, dancing in their graduation gowns, making all the audience smile in happiness.
In the spirit of celebrating musical excellence, SWA wishes to congratulate several Strings Club members: Kate, Alanna, Darrell, and Adhisya, who participated in the National Youth Honour Orchestra - Spring Gala Concert, hosted by MPA at Jakarta International School on Sunday, 1 June 2025. Amidst their academic commitments, these students showcased their musical talent and dedication, reminding everyone of the power of passion and perseverance. SWA hopes their success inspires more students to engage with music more deeply and share their music with the world. As the end of the academic year approaches, SWA applauds all performers for their artistry, hard work, and heart. Their music moved the entire community — and that, truly, is the essence of a meaningful education.
