MSHS

Welcome to Infobyte #18!
I hope all of you had the chance to enjoy the Lebaran holiday, which reminds us of the importance of tolerance and acceptance in our diverse community. In a world that is becoming increasingly interconnected, it is essential that we cultivate these values to build harmonious relationships with those from different backgrounds and beliefs.
Tolerance means accepting and respecting differences, and acknowledging that every individual has the right to hold their own opinions without fear. Acceptance, on the other hand, goes beyond tolerance, as it involves embracing diversity and actively seeking to understand and appreciate the perspectives of others.
At our school, we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where students and their families, teachers, and staff feel valued and respected. We celebrate diversity and promote understanding through various programmes and initiatives that encourage students to learn about different cultures, and traditions. As we move forward, let us continue to foster a culture of tolerance and acceptance within our school and beyond. By embracing diversity and respecting one another's differences, we can create a more inclusive and equitable society that celebrates the uniqueness of each individual.
We wish the best of luck to our Grade 12 students on their IBDP exams and G10 on their IGCSE exams. We also look forward to meeting our MSHS parents at the May Coffee Morning next week, where we will share information about Summer programmes and strategies to enhance the student profile.
Thank you for your continued support and let us continue to promote and celebrate the international mindedness and diversity within our community.

Preparing for Final Exams in the English Department
As we approach the final exams of Term 4, it's essential to start preparing early to ensure success. Here are some strategies to help you do well on your English exams:
Review the materials: Go over all the materials covered throughout the semester, including notes, handouts, textbooks, and assignments. Focus on the key concepts and themes, and make sure you understand them thoroughly. Also make sure you review your teachers’ feedback on the semester’s previous formative and summative assessments.
Practice, practice, practice: Take practice exams and quizzes to get a sense of what to expect and to identify areas where you may need more review. Review the questions you got wrong and figure out why. Tip: You can write your own quizzes using ChatGPT. Use this resource to help you prepare to do your best!
Manage your time: Create a study schedule that allows you to review all the materials without cramming. Break down your study sessions into manageable chunks, and take regular breaks to avoid burnout.
Seek help: If you are struggling with a particular topic, don't hesitate to ask for help from your teacher or tutor. They can provide clarification and additional resources to support your learning.
Stay organized: Keep your notes and materials organized to avoid confusion and ensure easy access during the exam. Use your school Google Calendar to keep track of important dates and deadlines.
Relax: Finally, take care of yourself during the exam period. Get enough sleep, eat well, and engage in stress-relieving activities such as exercise or meditation.
By following these strategies, you can prepare effectively for your English exams and feel confident going into the final exams. Remember, success is a combination of preparation, hard work, and a positive mindset. Best of luck to all students!

This term 4 in Enterprise class, grade 9 students are getting their first acquaintance with the world of Finance and exploring its significance and value for running a successful business. Some important concepts that they are learning about include sources of finance, cash flow management and forecasting, and financial statements such as income statements and balance sheet.
One formative assignment that the students had to submit was on choosing a company trading on the Indonesian Stock Exchange to currently invest in. The goal of the assignment was for the students to present and justify their choices and to give explanation as to why they have chosen a certain company based on their research of the specific industry and the future prospects for their chosen company. The examples below feature some of the slides submitted by Ryan and Almira and highlight the essence of this task.

Overall the students were engaged in this task based on the questions that they asked and in the future they will hopefully be able to pick stocks to invest in based on their knowledge and implementation of ideas such as industry research and diversification of stock portfolio. Moreover, some of them changed their believes that successful investing is based on luck rather than analysis and taking action at the right moment.

PHYSICAL HEALTH EDUCATION
Written by Mr. Nik
VO2 max is a term that is often used in physical education classes to measure a person's aerobic capacity. VO2 max is the maximum amount of oxygen that a person's body can consume during exercise. It is measured in milliliters of oxygen per minute per kilogram of body weight (ml/min/kg). A higher VO2 max means that a person can perform more physical activity without getting tired or out of breath.
Swimming is an excellent exercise for improving VO2 max. Swimming is a low-impact exercise that is easy on the joints and can be done by people of all ages and fitness levels. The Middle School students, having missed the swimming classes for almost 2 years now, are now re-learning again the basic strokes in swimming. From freestyle stroke, to backstroke, and breaststroke, the students are doing laps around the pool in increasing distances every session to both learn the stroke and to improve their VO2 max. With these set of exercises, they can improve their overall health and fitness level to end the year.
