CONGRATULATIONS
SWA Robotics Teams Triumph at FLL Explore and Challenge! 🏆
A huge congratulations to our SWA Robotics teams for their outstanding achievements at the FLL Explore and FLL Challenge held at Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS) on Saturday, 22 February 2025!
This year’s FLL theme, “SUBMERGED,” challenged students to explore the mysteries of the underwater world, using robotics and innovation to solve real-world aquatic challenges. From designing underwater exploration tools to developing sustainable solutions for marine conservation, our teams demonstrated creativity, engineering excellence, and teamwork.
🥇 Champion’s Award – Wave Dynamics
Wayne (G3), Sera (G2), Nicole (G2), Kevin (G1)
The Champion’s Award is the highest honour in FLL Explore, recognising the team that best embodies the FLL Core Values while demonstrating innovation, teamwork, and excellence in their model. Wave Dynamics impressed judges with their well-designed and functional model, strong coding solutions, and inventive approach to underwater challenges.
🥇 Team Poster Award – Hydro Titans
Darlene (G1), Vincent (G1), Edward (G3), Yinji (G2)
The team is recognised for their outstanding creativity and presentation, effectively communicating their project in an engaging and informative way.
🥇 Innovation Project Award – SWA Roboknights
ZhenXuan (G9), Samarth (G9) Yik Yan (G9), Hyee Joo (G9), Julia (G9)
This award celebrates a team’s exceptionally well-developed and creative solution to a real-world problem, with a strong potential for impact.
After their outstanding performance at JIS, our SWA Robotics teams are gearing up for their next big challenge - the FLL Explore and FLL Challenge in Singapore in late March! 🚀
This will be an exciting opportunity for our students to compete on an international stage, showcasing their problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork against teams from across the region. With this year’s FLL theme, “SUBMERGED,” they will continue developing their projects, refining their robots, and tackling real-world underwater challenges.
CARE CORNER
Setting Homework Routines for Young Students
Establishing a homework routine for young students is essential to fostering a sense of responsibility and helping them stay organised. A well-established routine not only ensures that homework gets done, but it also builds good study habits that will benefit them throughout their academic journey. Here are some practical tips and tricks to help parents and caregivers set a productive homework routine for young students.
Set a Consistent Time
Choose a time each day for homework, preferably right after school or after a short break. Consistency helps kids know when it’s time to focus.
Create a Quiet, Organised Workspace
Pick a quiet, well-lit spot free from distractions (like TV or phones). Keep all necessary supplies close by—pencils, erasers, and paper—to stay organised.
Break Tasks Into Smaller Chunks
Help your child break down big assignments into smaller tasks. For example, do 15 minutes of reading, then take a short break. This keeps them focused and avoids feeling overwhelmed.
Use a Timer
Set a timer for focused work (like 20 minutes) followed by a 5-minute break. It keeps kids on track and helps prevent burnout.
Offer Praise and Rewards
Praise effort, not just the result. After completing tasks, offer small rewards like extra playtime or a fun activity. Positive reinforcement builds motivation.
Stay Flexible
If your child is really tired or needs extra time on a task, adjust the schedule as needed.
