TODDLER - MATH
Written by Ms. Anne
The toddler class had an exciting time learning about the shape square through hands-on activities that encourage creativity, exploration, and fine motor development.
The children went on a square hunt around the classroom, collecting different square-shaped paper. They then used these shapes to decorate a robot, carefully pasting the squares onto its body. This activity not only reinforced shape recognition but also promoted teamwork and decision-making.
To further explore squares in a practical way, the children worked on their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills by slicing toast bread into squares using plastic knives. This engaging task helped them strengthen their hand muscles while developing independence in handling tools.
For a touch of creativity, the toddlers decorated square picture frames using beads and trinkets. This activity encouraged their pincer grip, an essential skill for future writing and self-care tasks.
Through these playful and engaging experiences, the children deepened their understanding of squares while refining important developmental skills. Learning shapes has never been more fun!
NURSERY - PE
Written by Mr. Victor
In PE class, our Nursery students explored movement by copying different shapes with their bodies, developing strength, balance, and coordination. They practised forming a "one leg shape," a "bridge," and a "crab shape," building confidence as they experimented with new positions. They also tried curling into a "ball shape," standing tall in a "pencil shape," and stretching into a "V or L shape," helping them understand body control and spatial awareness. As we move forward, the children try movements such as turning, spinning, sidestepping, and marching. These activities encouraged confidence while enhancing their rhythm and motor skills. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they moved and learned through play!
PRE-KINDERGARTEN - MUSIC
Written by Ms. Melissa
The Pre-K music class is currently engaged in an exciting exploration of rhythm through hands-on activities with various percussion instruments. This learning experience introduces students to the fundamental concept of rhythm by allowing them to actively tap out different rhythmic patterns and perform simple ostinato parts within songs. By participating in these activities, students develop a more profound understanding of musical timing and coordination while also strengthening their listening and motor skills.
Through structured exercises and playful engagement, students are encouraged to focus on maintaining steady beats and accurately following given rhythmic patterns. These activities not only improve their ability to recognise and internalise rhythm but also enhance their concentration and patience as they practice staying in sync with the music.
Additionally, this process fosters creativity and self-expression, as students become more confident in their ability to contribute to group music-making. The combination of movement, sound, and repetition helps reinforce their learning in an enjoyable and interactive way. By continuously exploring rhythm through percussion instruments, students build a solid foundation for their musical development, preparing them for more advanced musical concepts in the future while nurturing their love for music.

GRADE 1 - SCIENCE
Written by Ms. Evi
Grade 1 students have been learning about electricity—how it is used in daily life and how to use it safely. They discovered that electricity powers many devices around them, from lights to televisions and refrigerators. Safety was a key focus, as they learned not to touch electrical outlets or use wet hands when handling electrical devices.
Students also explored the components of a simple circuit, recognising that a circuit needs a power source, a conductor, and a load (such as a light bulb). They experimented with constructing simple series circuits using button batteries, copper tape as wires, and small light bulbs. Through hands-on activities, they observed how electricity flows when a circuit is complete, making the bulb light up.
One of the most exciting activities was creating a paper circuit card, where they used button batteries and copper tape to connect a light bulb. When they correctly arranged the components, they saw the light bulb turn on, reinforcing their understanding of how circuits work. This experiment allowed them to closely examine how electricity moves through a pathway and what happens when a circuit is broken.
Grade 1 students gained a solid foundation in basic electrical concepts through engaging and interactive learning experiences.
GRADE 2 - INDONESIAN LANGUAGE

Indonesia Language Literature (ILL)
Grade 2 students learned about Buang Sampah Pada Tempatnya (Throwing Trash in the Right Place). Through fun and interactive activities, they explored why keeping our environment clean is important.
Students started by creating short texts based on pictures, describing proper and improper waste disposal. This activity helped them improve their writing skills while understanding the impact of littering.
To wrap up the lesson, students designed colourful posters with creative slogans and illustrations to encourage others to dispose of trash responsibly. Their work serves as a reminder that small actions—like using the right trash bins—can make a big difference!
Well done, Grade 2! Let’s all keep our school and community clean! 🌿♻️✨
Indonesian Language Acquisition (ILA)
Written by Ms. Farah
In our ILA (Indonesian Language Acquisition) lesson, we explored the fascinating world of traditional foods. Each student brought a dish from their home country and presented how it was made in front of the class—entirely ✨in Indonesian!✨ This activity was not only enjoyable but also provided an opportunity for students to learn about the diverse culinary traditions of their classmates.
Beyond learning about food, this activity played a crucial role in language development. Presenting in front of their peers helped students build confidence in speaking Indonesian, improving their fluency and public speaking skills. It encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones and use the language in a real-world context.
Additionally, this lesson highlighted the importance of diversity and respect for different cultures. Food is a powerful symbol of identity, and by embracing the culinary traditions of their classmates, students learned to value and appreciate the rich cultural backgrounds of their peers. This experience reinforced the idea that diversity makes our learning environment more vibrant and meaningful.
Through this lesson, students not only enhanced their Indonesian language skills but also deepened their understanding of cultural appreciation and respect. It was a reminder that language and culture go hand in hand, fostering a more inclusive and open-minded community 💖

GRADE 5 - ENGLISH
Written by Mr. Marc
This is the Grade 5 students writing to you from English Language Class.
We are in the middle of preparing for Checkpoint English, and we want to tell you what it’s like. We know we are improving in English, but thinking about the test in April makes us a little bit nervous.
One of the reasons we are anxious is that the material for Checkpoint is so vast. It is unlike the SWA G5 English Tests where we have a set list of topics. For example, on a SWA Test, we might have 30 vocabulary words. For Checkpoint, there is no set list of vocabulary words to study, so they could ask us to define any word from the dictionary.
One way we prepare (and ease our anxiety) for Checkpoint is to practice taking past papers. This year, parents bought a bound copy of the past papers so students can practice. The bound papers make one large workbook. Much of the cover is white, so we playfully call it “The White Brick.”
There are mixed opinions among the grade 5 students as to whether we should take The White Brick home or not. We usually work on it in class, and this is the first week we have taken it home each night. Next week, we’ll discuss as a class whether we should continue taking home The White Brick every night.
Here’s a short poem about our thoughts and feelings related to Checkpoint English.
Full Steam Ahead
We are amazing;
We are a team.
For learning and Checkpoint,
We’re going full steam.
