CONGRATULATIONS
SWA IB MYP Students Obtained one 7th Place and three silver medals at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2022, in Dortmund Germany, November 17th – 19th, 2022
The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) aims to ‘bring together young people all over the world to develop their creativity, design and problem solving skills through challenging and educational robot competitions and activities. This focus is extremely timely, as we are faced with a world characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Education systems around the world are redefining rigour in response to a quickly changing informational and economical landscape: and activities such as the WRO, provide authentic opportunities to develop these capacities in students. The event united 365 teams from over 73 countries in the pursuit of excellence.
The WRO theme for 2022 was, My Robot My Friend. The combination of robotics and artificial intelligence can change the world and especially the environment of humans. The seasonal challenges are connected in the ways that robots can help humans. How can we make robot-human interaction helpful and safe? Judges looked for innovative solutions that questioned assumptions in a true “double loop thinking” approach. The themes made an appearance on the list of the United Nations’ Development Goals.
The Indonesian delegation, SWA RoboKnights, obtained 7th place as a team and three individual silver medals in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2022 in Dortmund, Germany. The following is an excerpt from the SWA RoboKnights at the WRO 2022. “Greetings world! This is team SWA RoboKnights from Indonesia and we present to you our self-regulated tele-surgery system, augmented to overcome the lack of access to quality healthcare services around the globe today, the TRS-500! By utilising electronic modules, pulse modulation, and schematic re-designing, we have been able to innovate a fully-bionic, synchronous droid, capable of operating surgeries from an overseas medical facility to rural areas in Indonesia.”
Congratulations to the SWA Robotics team members Jessica (G9), Yuju (G10) and Ayden (G10) in the Indonesian mission. Through their participation and the significant distinctions they gained in the field of educational robotics, students are demonstrating Indonesia’s potential in the field of STEM, and the evolution that has taken place here in recent years. We are proud to be one of the first schools to invest in STEM and develop young people's digital skills, partnering with other educational agencies. Over the last few years, through our actions, we have helped SWA students engage in STEM, fostering their teamwork and creativity.
MakeX Robotic Competition 2022 in Thailand
Congratulations to Audric (G9) who won 2 awards at the MakeX Robotic Competition 2022, held in Thailand.

MakeX Robotic Competition is an annual robotic competition platform that promotes multidisciplinary learning within the fields of science and technology. It aims at building a world where STEAM education is highly appreciated and where young people are passionate about innovation by engaging them in the exciting robotics competition, STEAM Carnival, etc.
Once more, congratulations to Audric, keep up the great work!

SWA LITERACY PROGRAMME
Your partner in building a strong foundation in English literacy skills is here. Join the SWA Literacy Programme! The SWA Literacy Programme features JOLLY PHONICS for ages 3-6. It is a comprehensive programme that employs a child-centred and multisensory approach to teaching the 42 sounds of the alphabet, which motivates children to build words as early as possible.
The programme is also offered to Elementary School students aged 7-11 years old. In this programme, literacy skills, (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), are further developed through exposure to stories of various genres. The language exercises are combined with activities that focus on comprehension skills (eg. summarising, inferencing, comparing and contrasting) that they can apply to all reading situations.
