SWA 15th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Written by Ms. Andrea and Mr. Stan
Sinarmas World Academy had the honour of welcoming parents, students, and community members to their magnificent campus gardens to celebrate their 15th anniversary, with a range of activities organised and led by students in a unique demonstration of the outstanding life skills learnt by the students in its academic environment.
What a wonderful day! Happy 15th anniversary SINARMAS WORLD ACADEMY!
The day that SWA celebrated completing another milestone was just perfect, sunshine and a hot morning with summer showers in the afternoon. The SWA campus was full of families, students, and vendors.
Shortly after the opening ceremony, families could be seen heading to the many activities and events planned throughout the wonderful SWA Campus. The morning was sunny and perfect for outdoor activities and people could be seen enjoying themselves on the field and in the gardens. It wasn't long before the field was full of people running around with face paint on, or showing off their prizes from tumbling down blocks using a slingshot in Angry birds, getting the frog into the lilypad bucket in leapfrog, or even explaining how they had excavated a dinosaur fossil, among many other exciting excursions.
Families engaged and enjoyed all the games and activities that the school had prepared for such an important day. Students had their own CAS project booths, promoting different activities and delicacies to raise funds for upcoming events, such as Model United Nations (MUN), and sponsors with their traditional food stalls and promotions were a plus to the party.
Horseback riding, bingo, volleyball, touch football, and badminton were some of the many activities which had parents and students playing and having a great time together. In fact, one of the best things of the day was watching how families had a great time together. And the amazing background music could always be heard from the many outstanding performances by talented SWA students. From piano solos to violin, and even Korean strings, there was something for everyone. Additionally, there were dance performances and singing, as well as live student bands performing.
SWA was built to serve the community, and the 15th anniversary couldn't have been better. Back in 2008, with Pre-K to 7th graders, SWA started their successful journey, and right in the very next year, prepared to open the doors to 9th and 10th graders, getting recognition from many international accreditation institutions. In 2010, SWA opened the grade 11 and 12 classes with the IB Diploma program, which has been a success from day one.
The celebration was a great reflection of what SWA has accomplished as an international school, and I’m sure we are all looking forward to the celebrations to come.
WELCOMING SWA PARENTS ASSOCIATION AY 2022/2023
The SWA Board, General Manager, members of the Parents Association (PA) in Academic Year 2022/2023 and 2021/2022, and Principals gathered together last Wednesday for a relaxing but meaningful discussion over coffee.
SWA Parent Association (PA) is the representative body of the school’s community of parents from Grade Nursery to Grade 12. The PA promotes the interests of the SWA students in cooperation with the school board, educational leadership team, teachers, and students of Sinarmas World Academy with the common goal of giving the best support for children's growth and improvement.
It was a very warm and friendly meeting, with lots of sharing of knowledge and experiences between the former and the current PA members. They have all agreed to bring the best possible support to the SWA community to further enrich the students' learning throughout the Academic Year 2022/2023.
Thank you to all those who attended and let us welcome the 2022/2023 SWA Parent Association members:

Written by Library Team
Keeping up with the Halloween celebration, the library team worked extra hard this month to select different scary story books for students to enjoy. We hope that the green slime, spooky tent, and jack-o'-lantern made everyone’s library visit a little more exciting. Reading is BOOrifically fun!

SWA LITERACY PROGRAMME
Your partner in building a strong foundation in English literacy skills is here. Join the SWA Literacy Programme! The SWA Literacy Programme features JOLLY PHONICS for ages 3-6. It is a comprehensive programme that employs a child-centred and multisensory approach to teaching the 42 sounds of the alphabet, which motivates children to build words as early as possible.
The programme is also offered to Elementary School students aged 7-11 years old. In this programme, literacy skills, (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), are further developed through exposure to stories of various genres. The language exercises are combined with activities that focus on comprehension skills (eg. summarising, inferencing, comparing and contrasting) that they can apply to all reading situations.
