*Auditions are due no later than midnight on February 13th, 2026*
In order to participate in Symphonic Band, students must be enrolled in Marching Band first semester and successfully complete the audition and rank high enough in the audition group to be selected. Typically, the EHS Symphonic Band will consist primarily of upperclassmen. Returning Symphonic Band members are not required to re-audition.
Students should complete this Audition Form, which is also where the audition video should be uploaded.
Audition materials for Spring 2026:
PART 1: MAJOR SCALE
Play your favorite major scale up and down (two octaves if possible).
PART 2: CHROMATIC SCALE
Play your full range chromatic (your best low note to your best high note) - eighth notes, ascending and descending - articulated both up and down.
PART 3: EXCERPT
Using the excerpts attached, practice and record the pages for your instrument.
Each instrument has one or two excerpts. Percussion: Please note that there are required scales for mallets IN ADDITION to a snare excerpt.
