Mrs. Young-Assistant Principal Class of 2023
My name is Maria Isabel Garcia and I am the school counselor at Buena for the Class of 2023. I have three daughters and Spanish is my first language! I am originally from Puerto Rico! I received my Bachelor’s degree from Interamerican University in Puerto Rico in Psychology. After completing my Bachelor’s degree, I pursued a Masters in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Carlos Albizu University in Puerto Rico and a Masters in Philosophy in Psychology. I am now in the last stage of my dissertation to complete a PhD. in Educational Psychology.
Among 10 years of working in educational settings, I have worked in different roles in private and public work settings to include educational environment in k-12 schools. In the past I have worked as school counselor, dean of students, teacher, vice principal and school principal. I worked several years in a k-12 school oversees. From these experiences, I decided to pursue a degree that would allow me to help and support students and their families find ways to become more successful students, discover options to effectively deal with a variety of problems, and inspire them to do their personal best in their lives. For these many reasons I am excited to work with all of the students and families at Buena High School and look forward to meeting all of you.
Please feel free to contact me by email at Maria.Isabel.Garcia@svps.k12.az if you need any assistance.
