Hello! I am Wesley Wood. I am the Assistant Principal for Science, Class of 2022, and the Career and Technical Education Director. I began my career teaching Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, but mainly taught Sports Medicine for 20 years. I also provided healthcare as the Certified Athletic Trainer at Buena. I have been a Buena Colt for 16 years, and am now continuing to serve as an administrator.
I am so happy to be working with the Class of 2022, and I look forward to helping you find what you want to do with your future. We have many opportunities for students, including college track courses, as well as career related work based learning. I believe in helping students explore their strengths, work through their challenges, and realize that they are capable of anything they put their minds to. Please visit me in the 1500 hallway, in the CTE Office, or you can reach me by email at wesley.wood@svps.k12.az.us.

Junior Class Counselor- Elaine Carlson
elaine.carslon@svps.k12.az.us
Hello Buena!
My name is Elaine Carlson, and I am the counselor for the class of 2022, this year’s current juniors.
I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and enjoyed living on a farm near the big city of Madison. We are blessed with two lovely children, and six energetic grandchildren.
I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin; then, my Master’s degree from Iowa State University, and then administrative certification from The U of A (go cats!).
Prior to moving to Sierra Vista, I served as Registrar and College Admissions officer for West Suburban College of Nursing in Oak Park, Illinois. Prior to that, I helped manage an employment agency.
After moving to Sierra Vista many years ago, I immediately starting working at Buena, and have served in the following capacities: teacher, Department Chair, Assistant Principal, and currently, as a counselor.
Teen-agers are great, and it is a blessing to be able to work with and encourage them as they navigate their way through high school, and prepare for their post high school plans.
Outside of Buena, I enjoy being a Pastor’s wife – especially helping with teaching Sunday School, singing, playing the piano, and often hosting groups of people in our home.
My favorite hobby is working with chocolate – especially my world-famous chocolate-covered peanut butter balls. I also love to take walks around our neighborhood, going to movies (when open!), and …
Visiting with our two children and their families. Son and family are in Tucson, and daughter and family just moved from Australia to Canada. Looking forward to a shorter trip when visiting Canada!
Can’t forget to mention that I am a ‘cat person’, and that our beloved kitty’s name is Cupcake.
Feel free to contact me by email at Elaine.carlson@svps.k12.az.us.
Thank you!
-Mrs. C
