It's an awesome way to trick kids into writing. Suddenly organizing and expressing their thoughts feels different when writing a script instead of a paragraph or essay.
The audience of the student's work expands. The audience is no longer just the teacher, it's the rest of the class, other members of the school, and family members. This can inspire the students to up the quality of their work.
Voice. Students learn how develop their own style of speaking and writing in a much more immediate way when they are speaking aloud and recording their voices.
Voice, but in a literal way. Some students who do not feel comfortable speaking aloud in class feel much more comfortable speaking into a microphone. They also have a lot to say.
Welcome to the first episode of the SVSD Ed Tech Podcast!
In our first episode, we are going meta. The first episode of our podcast is about podcasting... in the classroom! Kristin and Camille have some fantastic insights on how podcasting can cultivate student voice and how it can reframe the way students approach group work.

The district can license individual seats to your students. Check in with your Instructional Coach (Anjuli or Jaime) to get started. Do this before attempting to create a group or add students.
Tip: Make sure that you contact your Instructional Coach when you are in the planning stages. This will ensure that there are enough seats available and that your class is set up.
Click on the guide linked on the right for more in depth instructions on creating groups, adding students and assignments, and navigating the recording studio.

Using Soundtrap
My student can't join my group!
This is one of the most common issues we experience with Soundtrap. Most of the time, it is because the student has already created a SoundTrap account with their SVSD email, but they have done so outside the school licenses. In other words, they did it on their own, or with a teacher who is not using district licenses but has purchased them separately.
Most of the time, adding a student manually will solve the issue. The video below demonstrates the process.
