Flip is a fun media tool. It closely resembles social media platforms such as TikTok... but it is a much safer environment for students to learn and create in.
Flip is ideal for increasing engagement and developing student voice and creativity. It's ideal for SEL activities, quick formative assessments, real world connections, and anytime you want students to respond to content in a fresh way.
Students who have difficulty expressing their learning through writing (EX: MLL students with a low WIDA writing score) may be more successful explaining or demonstrating their knowledge in video format.
Check out the guide on the right for some ideas about how to use Flip in your classroom. Each idea comes with an investment rating, AKA, the amount of time and effort it might take you to implement the assignment.
You can also start by browsing some of the pre-made topics in the Discovery Center.
What to get started with Flip? You can use the Super Quick Guide below, or click on the document on the right for more in depth instructions about creating groups, adding students, creating topics, and using the camera and decorative settings.
Go to Flip.com and login with Google, then your district ID.
Create a Group for each of your classes (you'll only do this once per semester). Give students the Join Code to get them in.
Create a Topic- you can write instructions, add images and attach documents, or you can record a video of yourself explaining the assignment.
Give students the link to the Topic.
Students record their Response, decorate, edit, and upload it.
Everyone enjoys each other's Responses.
