Algebra 2
Algebra 2 is the third and final class in the NYS Mathematics Regents Curriculum. It is primarily focused on extending algebraic skills and trigonometric concepts, however, it also includes units on both probability and statistics. The course culminates with a Regents Exam in June. Students who wish to obtain an Advanced Regents Diploma must complete this course and pass the Regents exam in June.
Pre-Calculus
Pre-Calculus is the fourth class in the mathematics sequence and the the class is intended to prepare students for either AP Calculus or advanced mathematics at the collegiate level. The focus of the class is on refining algebraic understanding and exploring applications. There are additional units in advanced trigonometry and if time allows an introduction to limits. Students will typically take this course in either their junior or senior year, following the successful completion of Algebra 2.
AP Calculus AB
Advanced Placement Calculus AB is a college level course offered by the College Board. Students that pass the AP exam administered in May can earn college credit toward their future degree. The focus of the class is to introduce and explore the concepts of Calculus including limits, derivatives, applications of derivatives, integration, applications of integration, area and volume. Students who plan to pursue a science / math centered field at graduation will benefit from the background achieved in this course.
