Crater Lake itself
This is the most significant post-caldera feature. After the eruption & collapse of Mount Mazama, the caldera filled with water from rainfall and snowmelt, creating the deep lake we see today.
Rim & Caldera Walls
These cliffs were formed from the collapse of the volcano and remain as towering walls.
The caldera wall is composed of volcanic rocks that do not react with or dissolve easily in cold water, although warm water escaping from the caldera floor adds a small number of dissolved solids.
Phantom Ship
This geological feature, Phantom Ship, is a small island in the lake that resembles the shape of a ship. It is made of volcanic rock and is one of the most iconic landmarks in the park.
