Ensembles

The Concert Band is the core of the East Surry Band Program. Concert Band meets during the school day and is open to all band students in grades 9-12. During this time students will experience a variety of concert music styles as well as be introduced to concepts in music theory and history. The concert band performs several concerts throughout the year including, but not limited to: Winter Concert, Surry County Pre-MPA, NC Music Performance Adjudication (MPA), and Spring Concert. The ESHS Concert Band earned SUPERIOR RATINGS at the 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 NC Music Performance Adjudication!

The East Surry Cardinal Flight Marching Band is open to any band student at East Surry High School and 8th Grade band students at Pilot Mountain Middle School. The Marching Band is a voluntary group of committed students - this means students may be in the band class and not in marching band. Any East Surry student may be a member of the Color Guard. Students must be in acceptable physical shape to participate in this program. Performances include: regional competitions, Surry County Band Night, parades, all home and select away varsity football games. During the 2011-2015 seasons, the marching band won 29 1st-place, 26 2nd-place, and 8 3rd-place awards at competitions. Marching band season often becomes a band member's favorite time of year!
