Please note that all Suncoast students are required to complete either the FAFSA, the California Dream Act, or an Opt-Out Form prior to graduation
California law requires that, prior to graduation, students in public schools complete one of the following applications which may help students qualify for grants, scholarships, work-study, and other financial aid for college or career education. Families are encouraged to carefully review eligibility requirements and deadlines.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that students and families complete to apply for financial aid for college, career school, or graduate school. It determines eligibility for federal grants, work-study programs, and low-interest student loans, as well as state and institutional aid. Completing the FAFSA is important because it can make higher education more affordable by unlocking financial support that reduces out-of-pocket costs for tuition, fees, and other expenses.
California Dream Act Application (CADAA): https://dream.csac.ca.gov The California Dream Act Application is available to eligible students who are unable to complete the FAFSA and is used to determine eligibility for California state financial aid.
An approved opt-out form: Families who choose not to complete a financial aid application may submit an opt-out form. Please contact highschool@suncoastprep.org for more information.
