The Sumter County Middle School Counseling Program
Mission
The mission of Sumter County Middle School’s counseling department is to implement a proactive school counseling program fostering academic achievement, career awareness, personal growth and a positive self-image for all students to prepare them to be responsible, contributing citizens of the community.
Counselors will collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, the community, and all other stakeholders to ensure the academic and personal potential for all students is achieved.
Goals
To help students identify student support personnel in efforts to familiarize them with their circle of support at SCMS.
To provide the knowledge and skills to foster social emotional intelligence so students will have the ability to self regulate in times of crisis and conflict.
To collaborate with administration, teachers, and other stakeholders to support students and the overall mission of Sumter County Middle School.
To build relationships with parents in efforts to help support them in meeting the needs of their children academically, emotionally, and socially.

The school counselor is in the office and available most school days. To schedule an appointment, please contact the counselor by phone, email, or complete this form. The counselor is out of the office and does not monitor voicemail, email, or request forms after school hours, on holidays, and during the summer.
