FEEDER MIDDLE SCHOOL DIRECTORS

Korean American Lucas Webster is a graduate of Western Washington University, earning dual Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Music Performance. Lucas was selected as WWU's Outstanding Graduate in Music Education for the 2024-25 academic year. During his time in the music department at Western, he led performances in Valencia and Lliria, Spain, served as the principal percussionist in the Western Wind Symphony, and was a two-time winner of the Western Washington University Concerto Competition. He completed his formal studies under the guidance of Dr. Patrick Roulet, Dr. Patricia Bourne, and Professor Paul Bain.

Since starting Mid-February 2025, Mr. Webster is currently the Director of Bands at Lakeridge Middle School, serving over 150 students across 5 concert bands and a 7th/8th grade jazz ensemble. He also serves as the Percussion Caption Head for the BLHS Field Show Band, and most recently the Pit Orchestra Director for the BLHS Musical production of "Mamma Mia!". Prior to his work in Sumner-Bonney Lake, Webster was an active educator and coach across Whatcom & Skagit counties for nearly a decade. Outside the classroom, Lucas loves spending time with friends, cooking whatever cool recipes come across his phone, and being a homebody with his Fiancé, Mia. He looks forward to continuing to serve the Sumner-Bonney Lake Community and eventually pursue graduate studies in Music Education!

Pablo Hernandez is currently the band director at North Tapps Middle School in beautiful Lake Tapps, Washington. In his role as band director, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the NTMS band program including three grade-level concert bands, a before school jazz band, and the 5th grade beginner band program. Prior to his appointment at North Tapps, Mr. Hernandez spent six wonderful years teaching band in beautiful Moses Lake, Washington. During his tenure at MLHS, the bands performed at festivals all across the state of Washington including the WWU Band Festival, CWU WindFest, and the PLU Band Invitational. In 2023, the MLHS Wind Ensemble was one of the featured bands at the National Invitational of Bands and Orchestras at Carnegie Hall. 

Mr. Hernandez is a proud graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, and has completed additional conducting studies with Dr. John Lynch from the University of Wisconsin Stevens-Point. He has also participated in a variety of conducting symposia and worked with reputed wind band conductors like Mallory Thompson, Jerry Junkin, Jason Fettig, Michael Haithcock, et al. In his spare time, Mr. Hernandez enjoys carving out every possible minute of the day to study scores, drink coffee, and make delicious food (not at the same time). He currently resides in Tacoma, WA with his wonderful partner Beth and his two precious cats - Aria and Remington.
