Medication will only be administered if:
A Medication Order is completed and signed by the pediatrician and parent.
Medications orders are valid for the current school year only and must be renewed each school year.
Any student wishing to self carry asthma medication or EpiPen medications must have a valid medication order on file in the health office.
Medication orders are required for any medication or over-the-counter medication to be given at school including daily long term use medicine and any short-term use (less than 10 days).
All medications must be received, at school, in their original packaging with a pharmacy affixed label showing the child’s name, medication, dosage and administration instructions. For an over-the-counter medication please provide the medication in its original sealed packaging, do not send open bottles.
For nebulizing medication, tubing and mask or mouthpiece must be provided.
Medication prescribed for school must remain in school (it cannot be sent back and forth to the home).
Students are not allowed to transport medication in their backpacks.
Do not send cough drops to school with your child (send water instead).
Students are not allowed to self-medicate with any medication with the exclusion of asthma inhalers, EpiPens, diabetes medications and Hydrocortisone Sodium Succinate.
