An author uses special hooks to interest their readers from the very beginning of the introduction. We looked at mentor texts and realized there are three types of catchy nonfiction hooks: "Imagine," questions, and sound words. Some of our writers were experts right away, so we juxtaposed them with the mentor examples! Way to go 2K writers!

All about book writers know that they have to find a way to end their writing that makes sense and leaves the reader with an impression. The three types of conclusions we worked on were changing thinking, getting a reader to help out, and offering advice to the reader. Once again, we used mentor texts to guide us, then found we had expert conclusion writers among us!
