String Ensemble

Class Logistics 

Orchestra meets every day during period 2.

In addition to the daily class, there is a weekly pull-out small group lesson rotating between periods 4-9.

Transfer Goals

Students will learn how to independently:

1. Practice a piece of music and perform it with technical accuracy and artistic vision

2. Sight-read music

3. Make decisions about:

   • individual practice strategies

   • group rehearsal ideas

   • musical artistry

4. Play and collaborate with others in a small or large group.  Students will take turns leading rehearsals and providing suggestions to the group using the score.

5. Create a piece of music that tells a story or message (improvisation).
