April 2023: SHS Music Department goes to BOSTON, MA
Jan. 2023 String Ensemble goes to NYC
In January, 2023, String ensemble traveled to NYC to see a concert of the NY Philharmonic. After lunch, students walked to Carroll Studios to have a masterclass with Marie Schwalbach, a violinist in the NY Philharmonic.
The students then traveled to Juniors restaurant near Times Square for some well deserved dinner and dessert!

February 2017 String Ensemble goes to NYC
On Feb. 24, the String Ensemble traveled to Lincoln Center to hear the New York Philharmonic play Beethoven Symphony 7 & Symphony 8. The students were very excited to hear a live orchestra perform with such exceptional ability. After a lunch in the park, students traveled to the DiMenna Center for the Arts for a workshop with Anna Rabinova, a clinician. Ms. Rabinova is a violinist with the NY Philharmonic. A workshop or master class means that the students perform their music while the clinician listens and demonstrates improvements that are needed. Ms. Rabinova was extremely impressed with Spackenkill's musicians and gave them excellent tips to improve their playing. After the workshop, the students traveled to Junior's restaurant for some well deserved supper and cheesecake dessert.
