'Up in the dawn'

-Nishtha Dubey

I tip toed in my garden under the pleasantness of the moon

Somehow the sunflower twisted and turned, gazed and rose up

We sat there quietly listening to the melody created by nature's daily chores

A night was a day for my sweet friend, nature

The winds continued sprinting after welcoming me with all its warmth

The stars twinkled, the earth moved, my beloved moon sat staring over the roof

Interupting the silence, sunflower asked

"What do you like about the dark night above my holy love, the ever-pleasing , the sun, himself"

"What I see is far far away from your sight, little one," I beamed replying

"The sun might be a Romeo for his Juliet, Alexander for his subordinates,

But Moon is an Adam to this Eve, is the God to this priest,

My sentiments will remain unexpressed till I meet him today

I know that the moment is not even slightly close to this one,

When my knight in his shining armor will meet me,

But the conversation we had in this darkness of the night is far more precious for me than the bright pleasantness of the day,

You've lived under the sun, loved him, worshiped him as your sole belief to never see anything beyond him,

I wait to live under my knight in this night, today is the day, it is the day

When my longing to see him distinctly has fulfilled

And what I see is admirably beautiful even with those small patches

Are those his birthmarks, or is there even a story behind them,

He will tell me all of it as I waited so long to meet him.

How long is it, it's so stirring, frien.."

The last D remained unspoken, the question remained unanswered,

It was it's time to sleep, it had to go to sleep

For me to finally meet someone through the clouds

And say goodbye with a weep.
