At St. Vincent’s Catholic Primary School, we are excited to introduce OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) to transform our playground and playtime experiences. OPAL is designed to encourage children to be creative, active, and engaged through play, recognising it as a vital part of learning and development. This approach promotes all-weather play using natural and man-made resources, ensuring an inclusive environment where every child can participate, regardless of ability or interest. To support this initiative, we are seeking donations of clean, safe, and usable items (NOT broken) that will enhance our play provision. To help with organisation, we will be requesting specific donations each week. The schedule is as follows:
Week beginning 28th April – Small world: Lego (small and large), toy animals, toy cars/trucks, toy buildings, toy tools etc.
Week beginning 5th May – Mud kitchen: Pots, pans, spoons, lids, utensils etc.
Week beginning 12th May – Arts and Crafts: Paint brushes (Small and large), paint rollers, chalk of all sizes, child friendly and washable paint, pencils, felt tips, markers, easels, rolls of papers/wallpaper, fabrics etc.
Week beginning 19th May - Recycling Area/Large Loose Parts: Cardboard, wood, crates, pallets, electrical items (computers, laptops, TVs, remotes, etc.), tyres etc.
Smaller items can be brought to your child’s class teacher in a bag, while larger donations can be placed in the KS2 playground. Your generous contributions will help us create a vibrant and engaging play environment for all children. Thank you for your continued support!
The PTA are the main source of Funding for OPAL - we have committed £20,000 to the scheme so far.
