If an athlete is injured during a practice or game and did not notify the athletic trainer at the time, they must report to the athletic training room for evaluation and/or treatment during the 2:18–3:30 athletic period. The only exception is for new injuries that occurred the same day.
During this period, athletes are expected to participate in team activities to the extent they are able. They may report to the athletic training room for ice or treatment during the last 15 minutes of the period.
Rehabilitation or treatment during the athletic period is only permitted for athletes with a doctor’s note stating no sports participation, or for post-operative athletes not cleared for activity.
If an injury requires referral to another healthcare provider, the staff athletic trainer will contact the athlete’s parent or guardian to coordinate next steps.
Any athlete who sees a doctor for an injury must provide the athletic trainers with a note indicating any restrictions or clearance status.
